Thanks to its full and hardy foliage, the Aglaonema ranks among the most popular indoor plants. Easy to care for and quite vigorous, it is hard to find a more versatile and robust plant for the office or home.

Native to the tropical forests floors of Asia, the Aglaonema prefers to be placed in an indirect light area. It is best to keep it away from direct sunlight for it could scorch its leaves. Given its robustness, it can even be happy in diffuse light.  

MAINTENANCE

The Aglaonema needs to dry up to more than the first third of the pot between waterings. The humidity level of its soil will obviously vary depending on where the plant is set as well as the season. If watering is too abundant or frequent, the leaves will become sparser or turn yellow and/or brown. It is also easy to divide and share with other plant lovers when it becomes too massive!

When you take possession of your plant, make sure you assess its watering needs. Before you give it a drink the first time, check the soil’s moisture level to verify whether or not it is moist near the surface. It is best to aerate the soil before the initial watering since it is often compacted to avoid shifting during transit. This also allows it to breathe and release moisture.

Rotate your plant periodically in order to encourage an even growth. Cleaning the leaves regularly will stimulate proper photosynthesis. As you wipe the foliage, inspect the leaves on either side to make sure there are no pests.
