FICUS ALTISSIMA/ AUDREY
FICUS ALTISSIMA/ AUDREY
LIMITED QUANTITY!
Part of the Moraceae family, the Ficus altissima/audrey is an easy-care plant native to Southern Asia. In its natural habitat, it grows latching itself onto trees. Here, of course, it is cultivated to grow differently. Place it in a luminous zone and enjoy how its slender silhouette will adorn the room!
As it matures, its soft foliage is variegated with green and yellow. At a younger stage, it is completely green and veined. Just as its Ficus cousins, it dislikes drafts…
MAINTENANCE
The Ficus altissima/audrey requires good indirect light to grow well indoors. Keep it away from direct sun which could scorch its leaves. Though it appreciates a moist environment, its soil should not be moist. Therefore, allow it to dry up at least to the first third between waterings. Yellowing and dropping leaves are a sign of overwatering. Older leaves may also turn yellow in time. So check the soil’s moisture level before you reach any conclusion and adjust your watering.
When you take possession of your plant, make sure you assess its watering needs. Before you give it a drink the first time, check the soil’s moisture level to verify whether or not it is moist near the surface. It is best to aerate the soil before the initial watering since it is often compacted to avoid shifting during transit. This also allows it to breathe and release moisture.
Rotate your plant periodically in order to encourage an even growth. Cleaning the leaves regularly will stimulate proper photosynthesis. As you wipe the foliage, inspect the leaves on either side to make sure there are no pests.
