MIXED VARIETIES

The Ivy (Hedera) is part of the immense Araliaceae family, native to Europe for instance, where it grows near the ground. It ranks amongst the most popular indoor plants given its robustness and easy care.

The Ivy comprises various arrays of foliage, slightly jagged or not, variegated with white or different shades of green. Hardy and persistent, its long stems can produce lobes of up to 5 leaves. It can be trained to trail or simply on trellis.

MAINTENANCE

The Ivy is a hardy plant which requires good luminosity to be happy inside. It can even satisfy itself with medium light conditions. It is best to keep away from direct sunlight which could scorch its foliage. It will need to be watered when the first third of its soil is dry. If the stems thin out as they grow, it is best to cut them above a nice leave to stimulate new ramification growth. It also relishes on daily misting.

When you take possession of your plant, make sure you assess its watering needs. Before you give it a drink the first time, check the soil’s moisture level to verify whether or not it is moist near the surface. It is best to aerate the soil before the initial watering since it is often compacted to avoid shifting during transit. This also allows it to breathe and release moisture.

Rotate your plant periodically in order to encourage an even growth. Cleaning the leaves regularly will stimulate proper photosynthesis. As you wipe the foliage, inspect the leaves on either side to make sure there are no pests.
