Mimosa pudica, commonly known as the Sensitive Plant or Touch-Me-Not, is a fascinating tropical plant best known for foliage that quickly folds when touched. Its delicate green leaves are composed of numerous small leaflets, giving the plant a light, airy appearance. It can also produce charming round pink to mauve pom-pom-like flowers.

Light:

Prefers bright, indirect light with some gentle direct sunlight. Excellent lighting encourages more compact growth and may help promote flowering.

Water:

Keep the soil slightly moist during active growth, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid both allowing the plant to dry out completely and keeping the soil constantly waterlogged.

Appreciates moderate to high humidity and warm temperatures. Protect it from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Good to know:

Mimosa pudica is famous for a phenomenon called thigmonasty: when its leaves are touched, they fold almost immediately. The leaves may also naturally close at night and reopen later. Although this reaction is fascinating to watch, avoid repeatedly triggering it, as these movements require energy from the plant.
