Philodendron Congo Rojo is a beautiful tropical plant with an upright, compact growth habit, known for its large glossy leaves and rich shades of red, burgundy, and deep green.

New leaves generally emerge in reddish to copper tones before gradually becoming greener as they mature, while the petioles and stems often retain attractive red-burgundy colouring.

Light:

Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but brighter conditions encourage stronger growth, fuller foliage, and beautiful colouring. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water:
Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Avoid keeping the growing medium constantly wet, as Philodendrons are sensitive to overwatering and root rot.

Appreciates moderate to high humidity but generally adapts well to normal household conditions. Avoid very dry locations and direct sources of heat.

Good to know:

Unlike climbing Philodendrons, Congo Rojo has a naturally upright, self-heading growth habit. Its colours change as the foliage matures: new growth is generally more red or copper-toned, while mature leaves develop a deeper green colour.
