The Staghorn Fern is a spectacular tropical fern known for its long, branching green fronds resembling the antlers of a stag. Its sculptural and exotic appearance makes it a particularly distinctive houseplant. In nature, it grows as an epiphyte on trees rather than directly in the ground.

Light:

Thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but good lighting encourages strong, healthy growth. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which may scorch its fronds.

Water:

 Water when the growing medium begins to dry slightly. When grown mounted, the base can be soaked for several minutes and then allowed to drain thoroughly. Avoid keeping the plant constantly saturated.

Appreciates moderate to high humidity along with good air circulation.

Good to know:

Staghorn Ferns produce two different types of fronds: long green antler-shaped fronds and rounded basal shield fronds that protect the roots. These basal fronds naturally turn brown and papery as they mature. Do not remove them, as they play an important role in protecting and supporting the plant.
