Strelitzia reginae is a spectacular tropical plant known for its thick, architectural green foliage and its iconic exotic orange and blue-purple flowers resembling the head of a tropical bird.

More compact than Strelitzia Nicolai, it develops a dense, elegant growth habit and makes an impressive addition to very bright interiors.

Light:

Prefers very bright light and can benefit from several hours of direct sunlight when gradually acclimated. Excellent light is particularly important for strong growth and to encourage eventual flowering.

Water:
Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Reduce watering frequency during winter and avoid keeping the growing medium constantly wet.

Appreciates moderate to high humidity but generally adapts well to normal household conditions.

Good to know:

Strelitzia reginae is the species best known for its iconic orange and blue-purple flowers. It differs from Strelitzia Nicolai, which grows considerably larger and produces primarily white and dark-blue flowers. Reginae must be sufficiently mature.
