Philodendron Selloum Hope is a beautiful tropical plant known for its large, glossy, deep green leaves with dramatic, deeply divided edges. Its lush foliage creates an impressive tropical appearance while maintaining a more compact growth habit than the larger traditional Selloum.

As it matures, the plant becomes broader and fuller, developing a dense, architectural appearance that makes it an excellent floor plant.

Light:

Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but brighter conditions encourage stronger growth, fuller foliage, and beautiful colouring. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water:
Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Avoid keeping the growing medium constantly wet, as Philodendrons are sensitive to overwatering and root rot.

Appreciates moderate to high humidity but generally adapts well to normal household conditions. Avoid very dry locations and direct sources of heat.

Good to know:

Selloum Hope is still commonly sold as a Philodendron, although its current botanical classification places it in the genus Thaumatophyllum. Unlike climbing Philodendrons, it has a naturally self-supporting growth habit and develops a thicker base as it matures. Hope generally remains more compact than the traditional Selloum.
