Black ZZ Plants are striking houseplants prized for their exceptionally dark, glossy, elegant foliage. New growth generally emerges in shades of light or lime green before gradually darkening to deep green, purple-black, or nearly black as it matures.

Light:

Adapts to a wide range of light conditions, from low to bright indirect light. Bright, indirect light encourages stronger growth and helps develop attractive dark colouring. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.

Water:
Allow the soil to dry completely or almost completely between waterings. Its thick rhizomes store water, allowing it to tolerate extended periods without watering. Very sensitive to overwatering; reduce watering significantly during winter.

Adapts very well to normal or low household humidity and does not require high humidity.

Good to know:

.Don’t be concerned when new growth emerges bright green—this is completely normal. The foliage gradually darkens as it matures, eventually developing the characteristic near-black colouring. Raven is the well-known cultivar recognized for this dramatic transformation, while Oscuro Black is also marketed for its exceptionally dark foliage.
